Australian-based country singer, Elissa Pernu, shares her lovely collaboration album, "Flames to Ashes"

Australian-based country singer, Elissa Pernu, has officially debuted her wonderful new full length album, Flames to Ashes. We thoroughly enjoyed what we heard! Read along as we break down our thoughts on the record, in addition to a bit of background on the artist herself.
Elissa Pernu is a country music singer and songwriter from Australia, who currently lives at the bottom of beautiful Mt. Buffalo with her husband and 3 children. Elissa has always loved traditional country music since a child listening to songs by Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family and the Louvin Brothers on her radio when she was meant to be sleeping. Her favourite things are harmonies and duets, which is so obviously clear on the record considering the features.
Elissa met the Australian Country Musician Bill Chambers a couple of years ago at a Kasey Chambers Concert. Shortly after, Elissa and her family hosted Bill in their backyard for a great concert and he returned the following year for a gig at another local venue in Elissa’s hometown. Elissa and Bill started writing some songs together and this encouraged her to start working on recording her debut album. Flames to Ashes is Elissa’s debut album featuring 13 original songs, and produced by Bill Chambers. All the songs have been written from the heart and feature beautiful harmonies from both Bill and Mali Freeman.
Now that we’ve familiarized ourselves with the artist and the extra special features on the record, it’s time we tell just how much we loved this release. While we don’t get too many country artists sent our way, it’s always a pleasure when we do, because we appreciate and adore the genre so much. It seems as though so many artists these days sway into the mainstream pop part of music, so it’s always a plus to hear that artists are keeping the heart and soul of country alive.
Instrumentally, the record is fantastic. Coming in at a runtime of 41 minutes spanning 13 songs, the album is filled so many wonderful gems in the form of stories within the lyrics, vocal deliveries by Elissa, and those duets that the artist loves so much. We do as well. While we don’t want to give too much away, because we highly recommend you listen for yourselves, this is the type of record that’s good to listen to at any time of the day. It can put you in a relaxing mood or you could treat it almost as if you’re reading a book, because the stories told are worth listening to.
