Bright, upbeat, and pure vibrance from start to finish, Disco Mary have simply blown us away on their newest single, “Magic In The Hours”. Please keep reading as we share our complete thoughts on the track, in addition to a much needed background on the band.
Scottish indie pop band Disco Mary have released their latest single, "Magic In The Hours", which is set to be included in their upcoming EP, The Wow! Signal, slated for release in spring 2023 via Groove Bound Records. The song follows the success of previous singles "Expectations," and is a wonderful indication of what’s to come. On the first listen through, the song immediately filled us with joy in all facets, which is exactly why we’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as possible.
The verses of "Magic In The Hours" are sung by Kev Sherry, the frontman of Attic Lights, while Dutch pop musician Charly Haze lends magic voice to the choruses too. The track's emotional sentiment is communicated effortlessly through some seriously vivid lyricism too. The more we’ve listened, the more it’s filled us with optimism given the introspection it emanates too. The song's message is a “meditation on holding on during the darkest of times, and offering comfort and assistance when it is most needed”.
With "Magic In The Hours," Disco Mary continues to showcase their ability to craft soulful, thought-provoking indie pop. The vocals of Sherry and Haze complement each other beautifully, while the instrumentation is layered and lush, creating a sound that is both ethereal and grounded. The song's message is one of hope and perseverance, and its euphoric chorus will leave listeners feeling uplifted and inspired. Overall, "Magic In The Hours" is a standout single from Disco Mary, and a promising indication of what's to come on their upcoming EP.
Though this was our introduction to the band’s music, we didn’t quite know what to expect, but now having been familiarized we’re thrilled they come across our musical plate.
