Dirty White Shoes release yet another impressive single on, "Sucks It Hurts This Bad"
Review by Austin Sher
Shared recently on November 20th, 2020, Dirty White Shoes have debuted their all new single, “Sucks It Hurts This Bad”. We’re loving it! Please read along with us as we share our thoughts on the track, in addition to an insight on band as well.
Currently based out of Portland, Oregon, but inspired by sunny California, this is the release of their 6th single thus far. After achieving success via streaming, the band is back with potentially their best new track yet! According to Dirty White Shoes, “This song started back in February of this year and the idea came after facing the reality that it sucks to hurt. Simple as that. Sometimes that’s all it takes though. Learning to accept the pain but to keep pursuing your best self, and allowing your heart to take a break to allow room for healing. It was just a one liner I couldn’t stop singing in my head, and now it's finished. After logging in months, days, and hours, Jordan and I were able to write and produce what we think could be Dirty Whites Shoes’ best song ever.”
Like any promising artist, project, or band, the ultimate goal is to hit it big with songs that connect with users on a personal level. After our first listen of this song, it’s hard not to immediately relate with the story teller on just what they’re going through and how they plan to go through the motions. In the deepest sense, the lyrics presented to the listener are unbelievably related. While we have a feeling it might have to do with a relationship, you could also apply the overall message and themes to anything nagging in your lives. That’s where the track shines the brightest.
Putting the message aside, the song itself is truly wonderful! It’s taking some of the best elements of mainstream pop and putting its own signature sound and touch on things. To begin, the production quality is absurdly high, seriously, listening to this on a nice pair of headphones is a must because there’s so much you’d be missing otherwise. The backing track is original, but it also leaves the floor opener for the vocals to really present themselves at the forefront.
In full honesty, “Sucks It Hurts This Bad” has so much positive going for it. Comparing it to the previous singles released, it may just be the best so far. That’s not a knock to Dirty White Shoes, but as you continue on in your career, you learn what makes the listeners happy, and this certainly put a smile across our face.
So what else do we need to say here? We’re highly recommending and encouraging the reader to listen! It’s absolutely worth your time.
