Dido Oliveira excels on poetry collaboration record, "Música Na Poesia - Volume 1"

Continuing his legacy of putting out special music, Dido Oliveira is back with something a little different, an album titled Música Na Poesia - Volume 1. Please read on for a closer analysis of the record, in addition to a background on this artist.

Being described as a “collaboration that crosses mediums”, Brazilian artist Dido Oliveira has a new album out called Música Na Poesia - Volume 1 that is a combination of both poetry and music. He’s teamed up with different poets, taken their words, and formed heartwarming songs that span multiple genres in the process. Truly, it’s an attempt at something that we’ve never experienced, but the end result came out as nothing short of beautiful.

Having already released 6 albums in his career and working with some of the biggest names in Latin American music, Dido Oliveira is solidifying himself as a legend in the game. In this situation though, his attempt to pivot to something different yet exotic has resulted in the ability to enjoy his specific style of music, but poetry as well. Now we’ll preface our review by letting you know that from our knowledge a majority of the music is sung in Portuguese, so there’s a barrier to entry to fully understand, but even on the musical end he’s managed to outdo himself.

It’s an exciting release nonetheless and has given Dido the opportunity to prop up lesser known poets who are also doing something special in their medium of art. At 13 songs total, spanning right around 50 minutes in length, the musician keeps things fairly lowkey on the instrumental end in order for the lyricism to be front and center. That’s not to say there aren’t striking moments sonically, however you can assume that the point of the project is for the listener to extrapolate the contexts and themes. Having listened through a few times now, some of our favorite tracks from the album were “Dentro de Mim”, “Senhor”, and “Divina Mae”. With that being said though, we still suggest you listen to it all in its entirety.

To do so, we’ve included all the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay up to date with everything Dido Oliveira. We hope to see a Volume 2 coming soon!
