December Rose opens up on stellar album, "Raise Your Voice"
Channeling an immense amount of energy and passion through each song, December Rose’s second album Raise Your Voice has quickly proven to be amazing. Please read on for our full featured review of the record, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Currently representing the Montreal music scene, December Rose is a pop vocalist and songwriter who’s crafting up a unique blend of sounds and atmospheres in her music. Delivering an over the top powerhouse performance on her album Raise Your Voice, we can confidently claim that she’s the real deal. Sincerely, we can’t wait for everyone to get their ears on this as soon as possible.
Reflecting her personal challenges growing up such as being in an abusive household, we’re so thrilled and hope that December was able to put these issues behind her after writing these deeply personal songs. As wonderful and powerful as each song is in their own right, the real power feels like it comes directly from the songwriting and the emotion coming through each line sung. Everything you need to know about the record comes through on the opener “Mamma” and that high level of artistry sticks through to the closing moments.
Picking a favorite song here would almost be a waste of time, mainly because we felt the cohesiveness really come through after listening in full. Song by song, December Rose introduces existing and new listeners to her struggles on top of a stellar production, but it’s easy to get distracted by her vocals that positively take over nearly every moment of the album. We appreciated that the instrumentation on the record wasn’t over the top because it would’ve taken away from the best instrument being used, December’s voice.
At 10 songs total, spanning right around 36 minutes, we’ve virtually got zero complaints and critiques to add here. What she’s done here was methodically thought of in terms of the flow of Raise Your Voice and you leave the listen feeling quite hopefully as well. There’s not much else to say here other than our plea to get you to listen to this stellar collection of songs. You can do so by checking out all of the important links below. We hope you love it as much as we did!
