Dear Genre storms into 2022 with a spectacular single, "Parliament"
Ripping it up again on an absolutely killer new single titled “Parliament”, Dear Genre has made a swift return into 2022. We’re loving this track! Read on for a closer look, as well as a much needed refresher on the artist.
After being introduced to the drums and guitar at a very young age, André Cataldo ultimately transformed himself into the music moniker of Dear Genre. Since then he’s put out some absolutely earbending music, all of which we’ve enjoyed, and his latest delivery of “Parliament” is something that over delivered in our expectations. If this is your introduction to his music, prepare yourselves for the good stuff.
While his music as a whole always feels like it’s aiming to span the spectrum of sound and genre, this particular song honed in style a bit. Rocking straight through though and from the start, “Parliament” is delicately beautiful in the way that all of the sheer passion and emotion so effortlessly comes through in the vocals. That’s not to say that the bombastic instrumentation didn’t play a huge part in our love, however André’s raspy vocal style brought an edge to the song that clearly defines it.
Having completely loved his most recent record Man in Full, this accurately feels like an expansion of what he’d been working on in the past. Obviously for any artist who’s trying to fulfill themselves, they need to be making music that puts a smile on their own faces. Not only has that love come through in his delivery, but it’s easily transferred to us in the midst of our new multiple listens. Its allusion to early 2000’s pop punk feels like it’s at the forefront of the sound, but once you listen a little bit closer, you’ll quickly realize that he’s making something in a completely new musical niche.
Considering that this track is dropping basically at the beginning of the New Year, our hope is that this isn’t the last we’ll see of Dear Genre for now. Whatever direction he chooses to go, undoubtedly it’s going to be something that we enjoy. In the meantime, explore for yourselves and give his music as a whole a listen as soon as you can.
