Right in time for the holiday season, Dean Johanesen has just released his “too weird to be a classic” Christmas carol titled “Santa’s Swinging By (Again This Year)”. We are loving it! Read on as we share our thoughts on the track, as well as an update on this talented artist.

Nearly a month ago we shared our glowing review for Dean Johanesen’s single “The Wizard of Menlo Park” and thankfully the artist has made a valiant return. Although his newest song “Santa’s Swinging By (Again This Year)” was written and released back in 2020, it still packs a punch and has single handedly raised our spirits as Christmas time fast approaches. Imparting his signature sound and essence, there’s truly so much to love about this. We can’t wait for everyone to click the play button here as soon as possible.

For those potentially out of the loop on Dean Johanesen, he’s a full time musician and pre-school music educator in which he runs a program teaching and still manages to create originals of his own. In the world of Christmas music though, it’s feeling more and more rare to experience something actually fresh instead of just another rehashing of the same four songs. In this scenario, “Santa’s Swinging By” completely incorporates Dean’s personality, his warm inviting vocals, and some seriously catchy instrumentation along the way. There’s a laid back feeling and sense of calm that this one gives off too, which honestly is so needed as the holiday time can be extremely stressful for so many out there.

At right around three and a half minutes in length, as soon as the opening notes hit, it’s almost as if you’re emotionally transported to winter time. Due to the fun production effects, featuring your classic bells, whistles, sleigh sounds, and more, he’s hit the checklist of what you need, but still made it entirely his own in the process. Truly it’s a fun and carefree listening experience, virtually guaranteed to get stuck in your head, but also holds that versatility for many repeated listens throughout the next month or so. Even better, is he’s got plenty more music on the way that’s slated for a February 2023 release. We can’t wait, but in the meantime, get your ears on this immediately!
