DARK immerses the listener on ambient experimental album, "dark_2"
Staying prolific in his releases with a second album release this year, let us please introduce you to DARK’s latest, dark_2. Keep reading for a closer look into the record, as well as a background on this artist.
For those out of the loop, DARK is an ambient-experiment composer and guitar player who is very much creating his own sound and style. On his second full length record titled dark_2, the artist is exploring immersive soundscapes that embody the feelings of calm, meditation, introspection, and beyond. Through our now multiple listens, we’ve fallen more and more in love with his niche work and are highly recommending everyone out there dive into this immediately.
With a goal from DARK to “integrate with one's conscious experience”, his music has truly allowed for us to look within and block out some of the craziness of the world that we live in. Given that dark_2 is fully instrumental, your focus immediately shifts to what’s coming through your headphones and gives that urge to escape reality. Through 9 completely original and different works from start to finish, each track holds different emotions, vibes, and certainly unique atmospheric feels to them. One resounding constant is that DARK’s signature essence comes through for an ultimately cohesive and uninterrupted listening experience.
We’ll be totally honest though, this is a completely new avenue of music that we’re not 100% familiar with. Though we’ve reviewed ambient works before, DARK has literally challenged us as listeners to open our mind and get into the art that he’s making. Some tracks are more refined, but some really lean heavily into an electronic production that ends up feeling massive. A sincere recommendation for everyone about to listen would be to enjoy this with a nice pair of headphones, otherwise you’d be missing out on all of the subtleties that the mix holds. We can also envision ourselves in the future listening to this in a nighttime setting, closing out a stressful day, and even using it to meditate as well. The versatility is endless and we can’t wait to come back for more.
