Damascan Daydreams excels on dark & suspenseful single, "Crown of Gold"
Dreamy, suspenseful, and exceptionally vibrant from start to finish, we’re loving everything about “Crown of Gold”, the newest single from Damascan Daydreams. Do yourselves a favor and read on for our full review, as well as a background on this talented artist.
From the genius of Eman Tiba comes her solo project called Damascan Daydreams, an intense blend of dark pop with glimmers of electronic production spliced in. On the artist’s newest single titled “Crown of Gold”, she’s managed to create this grand and atmospheric soundscape that’s only made more complex by her silky smooth and expressive vocals. It’s a very specific vibe, but one that we’ve quite enjoyed, which is exactly why we’re urging everyone out there to take the time and listen.
Clocking in at just a tad under three minutes, she wastes no time whatsoever immediately curating a feeling and aura that looms around the single. So much of this song’s greatness in our opinion comes from the subtleties within the production; for example the minor flourishments that are best heard with a nice pair of headphones. However, the darkness and sort of drama that “Crown of Gold” brings perfectly sets this apart from everything nowadays within the general pop genre. As much as we feel that this has pop elements to it, it’s completely in a world of its own in terms of creativity and originality. It’s absolutely a song, but almost borders on becoming an artistic experience and journey rather than just another track you’d flip through in a playlist. Truly, the more we’ve come back for repeated listens, the more we’ve been able to uncover due to its densities.
While this song was released at the tail end of 2022, we’ve got fantastic news in that Damascan Daydreams has a whole lot more coming this year. There’s shows, live videos, and we can only hope more music that builds on the impressive catalog that’s been released so far.
