For those out of the loop, the Couldn’t Be Happiers are a married duo making some seriously compelling alternative country and Americana music. On their major release titled Songs For Butchie, Vol. 1, they’ve embraced a feel good folk rock sound that perfectly amplifies both of their individual talents. At only four songs in length, we’ve got no choice but to highly recommend you check it out from start to finish.

Dedicated to Jordan’s father who unfortunately passed away last year, the duo has plans to follow up Volume 1 with (you guessed it) Volume 2 and 3 that are both scheduled a month apart from each other. There’s no doubt in our mind that as soon as you finish up this listen, you’re going to be eagerly counting down the days until the next release. The reason being for that is the true ingenuity and pureness that effortlessly emanates from each song on the record. Coming in at a total of just around 11 minutes, it’s a listen that flies right by and preps you for what’s coming next.

While the record is definitely on the shorter side, the promise of more to come is what’s keeping us going. As this was our first introduction to the music of Couldn’t Be Happiers, they’ve certainly shown us a wide variety of the sounds and themes that they’re capable of. Kicking things right off on the opener “Treehouse” is all we really needed to be sucked in, however, the switch in tones and seriousness on the latter tracks showed a complex depth that was a nice surprise too.

Needless to say, there are zero flaws we could point out here as the record really is the definition of diversity in a genre that needs it so badly. We’re going to highly recommend once again you dive head first into Songs For Butchie, Vol. 1 and anxiously await everything else that’s set for release.
