Cort Carpenter reaches euphoric highs on powerful single, "Raise One Up"

Solidifying a solid career for himself thus far having opened up for Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, and more, Cort Carpenter is rising up the ranks on each release. As one of Nashville’s fastest growing artists, it’s new songs like this that are making it all make sense. Through our multiple listens of “Raise One Up”, it’s quickly proven to be one of more instantaneously anthemic and explosive songs we’ve heard in a while. On the opening notes and about a minute in, Cort embodies so many classic elements of country music, but with a much needed modernization of the genre. Honestly, it’s extremely difficult to reinvent a genre that hasn’t changed a ton over the past 50 years, but Cort’s infusion of pop melodies are what’s taking it in the right direction. Additionally, the song structure of it all thinks outside the box and breaks the mold of the “norm”, even outside of country music. For the lovers of pop and rock, we can confidently state that this is a lovely entry point into exploring another style of music you might be unfamiliar with.
Now while the instrumental and even the production are sensational and really make the song pop, it’s not a surprise for us to say that Cort’s vocals are what make this the most special. We mentioned it, but the euphoria he reaches throughout the bridge is what takes it from good to great. Even the runtime being a tad under three minutes, it’s shocking how much personality he’s jam packed into it all. It appears as though this was his first single release of the year, so if you’re reading this Cort, we’re going to need more hopefully by year’s end!
