Join us as we get to know the man behind the music in this exclusive interview.

Hey Clan Brude! How are you?

Very good thank you. I’m just getting back into the routine after some enlightening new year trips to Berlin and Cape Town.

Tell us, what do you like to do in your spare time?

At the moment I am completing an MBA so a lot of my spare time is taken up with assignment writing or reading heavy academic texts. Otherwise, I love going to gigs and catching up with friends is important. Since moving to Amsterdam, I’ve been going to a lot of museums. They even have a museum for House music here.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?

Swimming and spinning for fitness. Travelling (preferably somewhere warm). For some reason I love cricket, so watching as much as I can providing it doesn’t eat into my studio time!

If you could sit down with one person for coffee, dead or alive, who would it be?

William Shakespeare – did he really write all those plays??

Can you describe your perfect weekend from start to finish?

Happy hour drinks on a Friday evening followed by live music gig then a late-night bar. Sleep catch up Saturday morning then brunch bouncing into afternoon drinks, catch the football results and hopefully energy allows a club night, solid house music, minimal probably. Sunday rest and recuperate (although not against brunch meet ups).

Do you have a favourite snack?
Toast! Does that count?

Are you into sports? Is there a team that you support?

For sure, as mentioned cricket (it’s more exciting than you might think) and I support my childhood football team, Derby County. Promotion this season maybe?

Where do you hope to travel next?

Having just come back from South Africa I feel compelled to travel more around southern Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda or Rwanda to see the mountain gorillas.

What are three items you couldn’t survive without on a desert island?

Laptop, Yamaha HS8s and cold beer! (assuming there would be some kind of electricity supply)

Having lived around the world, is there another city you wish to experience living in?

Having been in Asia for so long I have travelled to a lot of Asian cities and love the buzz. I think Bangkok would be high on the list. Very dynamic and a bit easier on the bank balance than Amsterdam.

As our conversation with Clan Brude comes to a close, we've gained a deeper insight into his life beyond the studio.
