Cigar Club let it rip on thrilling debut, "Day, Now"
It’s not often a record collectively leaves us with our jaws on the floor, but this all new record titled Day, Now from Cigar Club has done exactly that. Read on with us as we break down our complete thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the band.
On their debut record Day, Now, Cigar Club have completely blown us away, to say the absolute least. With a lead up to the album’s inevitable release, they got us quite excited as they teased out singles and videos, but there was nothing like the first full listening experience. For something that we’d consider all over the place in the rock genre, but leaning towards the heavier side of things, we can’t recommend this album enough.
Kicking things off on a high note with the opener “.VESSEL.”, the band quickly shows you their unique world they’ve created. Showcasing an eclectic and ultimately diverse use of instrumentation and production techniques, Cigar Club continuously kept us guessing as to what exactly was going to come next. Over the course of 9 song and 39 minute run time, not one solitary second passed where a feeling of repetition crossed our minds.
Not to give too much away, because we’d obviously prefer you listen for yourselves, you can pretty much strap in for a wild ride filled with soaring guitar riffs, inventive guitar riffs, and drums that will shake you to your core. What crossed our minds immediately as we finished up our first listen was how perfect this album would be in a live setting. For a group of people who are desperate for any kind of mosh pit, this is exactly the type of music and sound that’s just begging for a raucous group of individuals to jam out to.
Do yourselves a bigger favor here and don’t skip around from track to track either, the real listening experience lies in the full album listen from start to finish. Cigar Club has expertly crafted the song placement in order to provide all the emotions, so make sure it’s not on shuffle either. Honestly, there isn’t much else to say here except to get listening ASAP!
