Chris McCooey chats in-depth about his latest album, "Missing Pieces" - Interview
Fresh off the release of his latest record Missing Pieces, we got the wonderful opportunity to sit and speak with Chris McCooey to get a full background on its creation. Please check out our interview with the artist below.
Born, raised, and currently based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris McCooey is a singer, songwriter, and producer who’s just shared his newest album Missing Pieces. Rooted in Americana, but certainly infusing a ton of other elements within its expansive sound, our conversation with Chris was an eye opening experience into how exactly this all came together, what he’s been up to over the past couple years, and even a sneak peek into what the new year may hold. If this is your introduction to the artist, we can think of no better jumping off point than with a listen.
Cultivating a truly eclectic sound across Missing Pieces, Chris really has created one of the most well rounded records we’ve experienced this year. Not only do we think you’ll be impressed nonstop with its euphoric instrumentals, but at the base of it all, he’s worked in highly personal themes of his life. Ultimately he’s claimed that this album is about “the experience of family”, which urges the listener to connect the dots within his words. We spoke about it more in-depth during our discussion, but the music he creates, and really anyone else, they act as time capsules down the road. You never know who’s going to be listening to you years ahead, whether it be your close family or distant strangers.
Putting the message aside for a moment though, Missing Pieces flourishes infinitely in its ever changing sound and styles as mentioned above. You get Americana which spans so much, but throughout your initial listen it’s jam packed with Rock, Soul, and endless grooves that tie everything together effortlessly. His vocals are impassioned and have that spark of someone that’s just happy to be there, doing what they love, but also act as an ideal communicator at the same time. The more we’ve listened, the more we’ve uncovered, and it’s why we’re urging everyone out there to give this album a spin as soon as possible.
