Officially released today on October 23rd, 2020, Charlene Song has debuted her energetic and dancey new single, “Never Let Go”. We loved it! Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track, in addition a background on the artist herself.

Born in the Bay Area, yet currently based out of Southern California, Charlene developed a love for singing when she was only 15 years old, as it all started with a strong desire to sing worship music at church. Charlene did not grow up in a musical household or demonstrate notable musical talent at a young age, however, even with no prior experience, she asked God as a teenager for the ability to sing praise and worship music, and soon enough her prayer was answered. Since then, she has dedicated herself to honing her gift and maturing in her craft.

It wasn’t until the onset of the coronavirus lockdown that Song started actively pursuing singing opportunities outside of Sunday worship online, which would ultimately lead her to meeting dance music producer Grant Sonn. After her and Grant linked up, the rest was history, and her wondrous career as a musician began. Here we are months later and the artist has two whopping singles under her belt, with what we can only imagine should be a slew of additional ones on the way soon enough.

Speaking directly on “Never Let Go”, our first impressions were just how wonderful of a collaboration track this really was. With so much “dance” music that crosses our paths, our standards have naturally risen over time. With that being said though, our expectations were certainly blown out of the water as soon as our first listen was up. Instantly, we had to dip our toes back in for one more.

Between the high quality production and impressive vocal delivery coming from Charlene Song, this was certainly an impressive single to be putting out in the world. Right now as the world can certainly seem bleak, an upbeat and energetic type sound is exactly what we needed to be hearing. One thing we will mention before you dive in, is that we highly recommend listening on a nice pair of headphones or proper sound system, the experience will be that much better.

After listening to “Never Let Go” and comparing it to her debut, “So into You”, it would truly be difficult to pick out a favorite, so we’ll leave that to the reader. So now’s about the time we’ll let you know it’s time to stop reading and get to listening!
