As a multi-talented musician, performer, comedian, and beyond, the artist known as hey, I’m cee has served up another instantly classic that pulls directly at your emotions through its vivid lyricism. The song is called “u blew it”, which is actually a collaboration between other musicians that have come together in its creation. It takes influence from artists like Zack Fox, NeverShoutNever, and more, but ultimately it’s a truly original piece that sounds like nothing we’ve heard as of recently. Described as an “enigmatic sound, yet as familiar as a warm hug”, we fully agree with the sentiment. The first thing that came across to us on our initial listen was how intimate and raw this song really feels. It starts out relatively slow with an acoustic guitar and vocals right in your face, but slowly transcends into a spoken word piece towards the end. It gives listeners an opportunity to get to know the real person that hey, I’m cee is and also sets a base for what to expect on future music. As a non-binary artist, the goal and messaging here is shifted towards “positivity, confidence, and the need for self-preservation”. We love that and are always in favor of those looking to spread their vision.
While the song is certainly on the shorter side of things, what it definitely has going for it is how impactful it is at the same time. For the passion and emotion that it holds, it honestly doesn’t need any gimmicky production or pointless novelty effects to get its point across, rather the beauty of it all lies in the lyrics which are at the forefront. They’ve been been at it musically for about the past year, and we took the opportunity to explore more, but this really does feel like the most sincere thing that has been shared yet.
