Carmen Hernandez follows up debut album with "Yuyo Verde" music video

Following the release of Carmen Hernandez’s debut album Al Evocarte Tango Querido, the title track “Yuyo Verde” has finally got a music video! Read on for a closer look at her music, in addition to a much needed background on this artist.

Released earlier this year, Carmen Hernandez’s Al Evocarte Tango Querido is fantastic from start to finish, however it’s opener “Yuyo Verde” expertly sets the tone for the rest of the record. Now accompanied with a rich music video (linked below), she’s brought on an eye-catching piece of art that brings life and vibrance to a song that so desperately needs it. While of course we’ve got to recommend checking out the album in full, you’d be best to start with a listen and watch of the video.

Visually stunning to the eye and staying true to its tango roots of the mid-1940’s Carmen Hernandez has kept things overtly traditional in her video and music overall. Taking the viewer through cobbled streets while dancing, moving, and being whisked away by the upbeat acoustic instrumental, you immediately get transported to an era and setting you might have otherwise been unfamiliar with. For this Colombian-born artist, she’s letting outsiders in and almost giving them a lesson in culture, all the while staying true to her upbringing and doing what makes her the most happy. Obviously we don’t want to spoil too much, so we won’t give more away, but it’s in your best interest to give it a spin as soon as possible.

Focusing in on “Yuyo Verde” the song though, it’s entirely sung in Spanish and while we’re not fluent ourselves, it’s hard to deny the passion and genuine feeling that the vocal delivery gives off. Considering it is the opener on the album, and an artist you might just now be being introduced to, we felt that it served as an ideal first impression to the rest of Al Evocarte Tango Querido. Being so impressed by one song doesn’t happen often for us, but the positivity and good vibes that it held sincerely made us want to finish out the 30 minute record. We came out of our listen feeling optimistic, cultured, and with the hope that this won’t be the last release we see from Carmen Hernandez.

With all that being said though, she’s clearly done an outstanding job here, and we urge everyone to check out the links below in order to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for plenty more. Enjoy!
