Bryan Guardado shares his impressive new single, "Drive"

Review by Austin Sher

Pasadena, California’s own Bryan Guardado, has just released an impeccable new single, titled “Drive”. Read along with us as we break down on what we thought of the song, as well as a bit of background on the artist.

Before we get into what exactly we thought of the music, we feel we’d be doing the reader a disservice if we didn’t provide some background on the artist. It’s always nice to familiarize yourself a bit on the artist behind the music. Born and raised in Pasadena, Bryan Guardado currently does it all in the forms of singing, songwriting, and instrumentation. Guardado helps listeners have hope, faith, and peace through his music. Bryan spends time healing with music, nature, traveling, and being part of a multi-cultural society in the greater Los Angeles area, where he performs at cafes and local venues, and occasionally leads worship with several organizations.

All around, Guardado keeps busy not only in his community, but within the songwriting process as well. “Drive” is an all new single that is completely a current event and extremely relatable to those going through it. It’s a song written about a road trip, and the anxiety of uncertainty while being unemployed in between jobs. In today’s day and age, it’s not overly difficult to feel the feeling of wanting to get up and leave when life gets the best of you, especially when things are out of your control. I think we’ve all been there at some point, and “Drive” really brings things into perspective for those experiencing life’s difficulties.

Getting into the music, what a fantastic track! The opening sequence of clashing pianos and drums were a fantastic precursor to Guardado’s booming voice that leads the song through and through. While the song feels cinematic and emotional at times, it also gave us feelings of inspiration and an uplifting attitude. Throughout the entire song, we get the feeling of a rising action within the instruments, especially on the piano. The piano playing incrementally got dramatic and paired with the vocals and lyricism, really made for a fantastic song. It had it all, especially on the lyrics side of things. However, our favorite part of the song was the climactic ending with all the clapping, and Guardado holding that lovely note to wrap things up.

Overall, we really did love what we heard! We can’t wait to see what else Bryan Guardado has coming out in the hopefully near future. To keep up with all of Bryan’s releases and to listen to “Drive”, please check out the following links below.
