Bonesie and the Bad Bats' share their glam punk debut, "Make Hits and Chill"

Bonesie and the Bad Bats’ debut album, Make Hits & Chill, has finally made its long awaited arrival! Read along with us as we provide an in-depth review into what we thought of their full length album, as well as a bit of background information on the band as well.
Made up of Tony Slipp on Drums, Lil’ Frankie Cordero on Bass and Production, and Danny Echo on Guitar and Vox, Bonesie and the Bad Bats’ are currently making waves within the music scene. Coming from Wichita, Kansas, the three piece classifies their sound post punk, glam rock, and acid folk. Let us be the first to tell you that all three genres are proudly featured on Make Hits & Chill. If you’re looking for outlandish glamorous tracks, that are short, sweet, and to the point, this album is absolutely for you.
The band have been a working project since around September 2019 and have been filling their time since performing live and recording their debut album, Make Hits & Chill which is set to release on all digital platforms 7/31/20. However, you can purchase and listen now on Bandcamp (link provided below). followed by CDs and Tapes through This Ain't Heaven Recording Concern. The band describes their sound as high energy short rock songs, shoestring budget theatrics, giant monsters destroying cardboard cities, and ghouls getting down. That’s what can be expected if you catch them at a show. Additionally, it’s rumored that individual video projects are to come.
The album is currently coming in at 11 songs total, which may sound like an undertaking, but we promise you it’ll all be worth it. The songs are short enough to where they actively keep your attention throughout their short runtimes, and cohesive enough to where you should absolutely be listening to this record from start to finish. For us, glam punk is a dying genre and it was honestly so refreshing to hear their version of a revival. Straight up, this is such a fun record to listen to. It’s lighthearted, emotional, and keeps you glued to what theatrics are going to appear next.
While we loved the record in full, we were particularly fond of the songs “NO FUZZ”, “Them Angles”, and the album closer, “Moontruck in the Sunset”. All fantastically original tracks that provided original instrumentation and a classic punk rock voice that seems to be lost in even current punk rock projects. From our first listen on, we immediately thought it was reminiscent of recent Jeff Rosenstock offerings, but obviously with their own twist on things.
Listen, if you’re looking for a solid record to bop around the house or headbang in the car too, look no further, because Make Hits & Chill is for you. This was a fantastic indie punk offering that anyone just getting into the genre would enjoy. Do yourself a favor and listen!
