Blue Lush go above and beyond on expressive song, "So I'm Sorry"

Serving up an absolutely astounding display of vocals and instrumentation, Blue Lush have gone above and beyond on “So I’m Sorry”. Read on for our glowing review, as well as a background on the band.

Currently representing the music scene in New York, Blue Lush are a five-piece band specializing in an incredibly unique blend of Rock, R&B, Jazz, and glimmers of so much more. Describing their sound as “lush” would be too cheesy, but truly what they’ve given us on their newest single “So I’m Sorry” embodies the feeling and essence of that word. This happened to be our introduction to their music, but sincerely they’ve blown us away in all aspects. Of course, we’re urging everyone out there to listen to this immediately,

On the background of the track, ultimately “So I’m Sorry” focuses intently on the next stage of the grieving process, bargaining. So the band says, it was “written through the eyes of a hurt and confused young woman, imbued with a sense of empowerment”. Envisioning the song through that lens certainly helps, but as a first time listener, there’s seriously so much happening sonically it’s tough to focus your attention. We say that in the most complimentary way because now having had the opportunity to listen through several times, it’s easier to focus on specific elements of the single. For example, the vocal display and insane range and dynamics were by far our major standout. The way that each artist’s voice complements each other, showing off a great deal of emotion while telling a story was a masterclass.

While we could rant and rave about the vocals all day long, a close second was the nonstop fusion and atmospheric tones wading their way in and out of “So I’m Sorry”. The drum’s ability to evoke their own suspense and drama was one thing, but it was also all of the subtle effects in the production that continued to amplify and raise your anxiety levels until a crisp finish and climax towards the latter half. Sending chills down our collective spines was never expected, but it was surely a cherry on top to our extremely positive listen.
