Blair West excels on stripped back debut, "All This To Say"
Coming out extremely strong with a soul touching debut single “All This To Say”, we’re immediately looking forward to more from Blair West. Read on for our glowing review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
While Blair West is no stranger to music in the slightest, the world can finally experience the greatness that she’s been hiding. Based out of New York City and spending her free time writing songs, this first official one titled “All This To Say” is a masterclass in imagery-filled lyricism. Needless to say, we can’t wait for everyone to give this one a listen and to hop on her bandwagon before it takes off.
Written in Blair’s apartment bathroom well into the pandemic, this track deals with some complicated themes in terms of relationships. So much of what we enjoyed about this song is its stripped back nature surrounding the instrumentation. It didn’t need to be this completely blown out pop-centric track to communicate the message, rather Blair composed the song to show off her dynamic vocals and to really display the themes at hand. Ultimately, it’s her silky smooth vocals on top of a muted acoustic guitar, but with that, it becomes this powerful and moving being that is jam packed with emotion.
Considering this has come out on January 7th, right at the beginning of the year, we’re now over here crossing our fingers for more hopefully on the way. Seeing as though she’s got countless hours of music written, let’s hope at least a fraction of those see the light of day in an official release format. It’s the purity and genuineness of singer songwriters like Blair that really make us want to slow down and make those connections with the lyrics. There’s a certain calm that her music has given us and we now need to relive that as soon as possible.
All that being said though, Blair West is right at the beginning of what we think is going to be a very fruitful musical career. Don’t hesitate on “All This To Say”, go ahead and give it a listen whenever you might be reading this.
