Trained as a jazz vocalist, but continuing to experiment in genres of all kinds, Başak Gurcan has just shared a genre-bending single titled “Watch It!”. While it’s certainly rooted in pop, there’s so many other elements of music that show themselves, but with an emphasis on an electronic production. It’s simple, effective, and immensely catchy in the best way possible, which is why we’re overwhelmingly recommending everyone out there crank it up loud and get listening ASAP.

We didn’t initially take this for more of a serious listen as our attention was transfixed on the production and backing track, but after going through repeated listens, Başak really has laid out an important storyline depicted in the song. As for the artist, well she’s typically been behind the scenes these days working closely to produce music in many other genres, as well as lending her voice into the mix. We sincerely hope to see more releases like this coming sooner rather than later, because as of now, it appears that she’s only got a couple songs attributed to her. As the summer looms around the corner, it’s uptempo pop EDM tunes just like this that we want blasting on the speakers.
