Austin Marquez excels on highly relatable 2nd single, "Nostalgic Boy"
On only his second overall single, Austin Marquez is already making waves within his respective genre with the release of “Nostalgic Boy”. Please read for an in-depth review of his latest, in addition to a background on the artist.
Highlighting a playful side to the artist and a much more expansive production compared to his debut, we’re simply loving “Nostalgic Boy” from Austin Marquez. Anthemic in its tone and riveting in the instrumentation, it’s no surprise in the slightest that Austin’s vocals continue to be the standout regardless of everything else going on. If for some reason this is your introduction to his music, we can think of no better entry point than with this song.
Now as catchy and melodic as this song really is, it doesn’t lack whatsoever in its lyricism or self awareness. It’ll keep you grooving, that’s for certain, but ultimately it’s about the “characteristics of one who is constantly chasing after love they've let go”. No matter how you identify, we can almost guarantee we’ve been nostalgic for something in our lives, whether it was a feeling, person, or experience. How Austin manages to craft his words on this song is one of the shining moments undoubtedly, but the relatability is what takes it to a higher level. We’ve all been there, and paired with an outstanding production, it’s what is making this song so well rounded from start to finish too.
Considering this artist has been so involved in music, dating back to when he was 10 years old, there’s no shock that he’s blended sounds from his personal influences. It’s rooted in pop, but so many glimmers of cinema could have “Nostalgic Boy” included in a film score of some sorts. With his transcendent vocals and over the top feel that the song holds, the versatility and bounds are endless, that’s a fact. It’s only his second song as mentioned, so we’re already patiently waiting for what else is going to come, and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long either!
