Artelia Green & the Bandanas storm back on thrilling 2nd LP, "Fly"

Consider us absolutely blown away by Artelia Green & the Bandanas sophomore album, Fly. No joke, everything about it is wonderful and we sincerely recommend you check out our full review below to hear our thoughts.

Already blowing up the airwaves all over the United States, Artelia Green & the Bandanas have successfully avoided the coveted “sophomore slump” with their second record, Fly. Ranging from genres like Jazz to Hip Hop to Soul and so many more, there wasn’t a single solitary moment of this record that wasn’t downright impressive. If this is your introduction to the band, go ahead and take our word that you’re going to love it.

Taking inspiration from some of the greats like Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder, this Bay Area-based band are made up of talented musicians that have equally brought their A game to the mix. With a tour planned for the next 6 months to get this music out to the world, our sincere hope is that they’re coming to a city near us because it would be an absolute honor to get to see this in a live environment. Just the thought of hearing the opener “Elevate” or “Fire In Me” would be a highlight of the year.

To really break it down though, so much of what we loved here was the juxtaposition between clever features, ongoing diversity in the instrumentation, and a consistent fresh take on music as a whole. With so many records released nowadays that tend to flounder in spots, we got the feeling that this was a concept record that was fully fleshed out before the actual recording process. The ease in flow was one thing, but even the songwriting and complex themes presented were a great addition that only added to its continued greatness.

At right around 36 minutes in length, there isn’t a single fleeting moment here that under delivered or had us hoping for more. Sincerely, all we want you to do is hit that play button below, plus click the Website button in order to see if they’re hitting a city near you. We won’t spoil any more of the goodness, so for now, just take our word and hit play. Enjoy!
