Art and the Resistance explore their PolyRock single, "The Fonk" - Interview

Fresh off the release of their newest single “The Fonk”, we got the opportunity to sit and speak with John Calanchini of Art and the Resistance. Please check out our full featured interview below.

For those out of the loop, Art and the Resistance are a California-based band that describe their eclectic sound as PolyRock. Made up of Art Machuca (vocals/guitar), John Calanchini (keyboardist), Jeremy Bridgman (drums), and Gilbert Machuca (bass), they’ve created a special new sound that legitimately sounds like nothing we’ve heard. If it’s your first introduction to their music as a whole, you’re in for a serious treat.

While this appears to be their first single of the year, during our conversation it’s looking like 2022 is going to be the biggest year yet for the band. Taking the time to hopefully plan out a tour and get these songs played for audiences should hopefully be the priority, however we wouldn’t be upset in the slightest at any new music that resembles the greatness that is “The Fonk”.

Now of course we definitely don’t want to spoil too much about our conversation with John, but what we will say is that besides his talented musicianship, he really was a total pleasure to get to speak with. Music that we vibe with like this typically provides for a better interview, which is why our conversation with John went so well. Hearing the specifics of the production, who all was involved, and the process behind its creation was exactly the background we needed.

Enough talk though, if you haven’t already, go ahead and check out our discussion in addition to clicking those links below where you can listen and follow along for everything Art and the Resistance. Enjoy!
