Apaolo evokes nostalgia on pop punk-inspired single, "Psychopath"
Like a shot of adrenaline right into the senses, Apaolo has just shared his latest energetic single, “Psychopath”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read on for our glowing review, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Bridging the gap perfectly between the Pop Punk and Rock sound of the early 2000’s but mixed in with plenty of modern elements, Apaolo has completely nailed the mark on his newest single, “Psychopath”. Reminiscent of the now legendary soundtracks of the early days, a la American Pie, this artist immediately brought out all of the nostalgia in us, meanwhile solidifying himself as a serious player within this revitalized genre. Obviously, we’re recommending everyone out there click the play button as soon as possible.
On the background of it all, “Psychopath” is about “psycho girls and their nefarious ways”, an all too common subject, but 100% is true for all genders. In this scenario, Apaolo is detailing personal experiences through vivid lyricism and serving up a fully emphatic vocal delivery to really get the point across. Right from the get go, he paints a picture of what’s going on, easy enough to imagine in your head as line by line begins to process. Even better though, he’s gearing up to release a music video for the track, out sometime in mid-December.
Ultimately though, everything about this song feels overtly fun, ruckus, and filled with attitude. What it does best in our opinion is manages to take a highly specific sound and style that we hold dearly in our personal music preference and reinvents it in a way where this makes sense for 2022. Although, there’s actually been a major resurgence in Pop Punk as of late, thankfully, but Apaolo’s specific take on the matter actually aims to be different and nostalgic all in one go. There’s clearly a signature essence and certain motifs that cut through, but without a doubt we are 100% vibing with his performance here. For us, it checks all the boxes that we’re looking for in terms of originality, freshness, and setting a base for a fruitful future of hopefully many more releases.
