Post Animal talk "Love Gibberish", Touring, & Recording Process

Gearing up to release their fourth full length record Love Gibberish, out on May 13th, 2022, we got the special opportunity to have Post Animal back on our podcast once again for a full breakdown on the record. Check out our full interview below!

Having the chance to Love Gibberish prior to its official release has left us downright giddy to say the least. For fans of the band, and even ones that have yet to discover their greatness, they’ve evolved in a way that we’d only dreamed of. During our conversation with Wesley Toledo, Javi Reyes, and Matt Williams, we covered a ton of topics ranging from their upcoming tour all the way to recording specifics. There were even some call backs to our previous interview surrounding their EP Worried About You, which we also recommend giving a listen.

As the record prepares to be shared to the world, Post Animal have let loose three incredibly diverse singles thus far, “Cancer Moon”, “No More Sports”, and “Puppy Dog”. We love all three equally, mainly for the fact that it’s giving the listener a real taste of the remaining tracks that haven’t been heard. It was mentioned in our interview, but “No More Sports” specifically is the Post Animal version of Van Halen’s “Panama”, but in a way that differentiates itself. So says the band, it was written close after the unfortunate death of Eddie Van Halen.

Compared to past records like Forward Motion Godyssey and When I Think Of You In A Castle, this one certainly does its fair bit of experimentation and doesn’t hold itself inside a box like the others. There isn’t necessarily one resounding theme or message throughout, rather a collection of experiences and personal anecdotes over the past couple of years. In fact, some of the final tracks from Love Gibberish were demos dating all the way back to 2019. We’re a couple weeks out from the big day on May 13th, so if you’ve yet to give any of Post Animal’s music a spin, now would be the ideal time to catch up on their prolific discography. Honestly, a fair starting point could even be 2021’s Levitation Session to get a feel for their live show!

With all that being said, we’ve included the most important links below in order to get listening, follow along, and of course so that you can catch the band on tour. We’re most excited for their album release day show at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on May 13th, we’ll be there for sure. It’s not too late to grab tickets either, get them HERE
