Made up of Deyo Braun, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nick Chamian, and Ryan Dean, Colorvision have cranked out easily one of our favorite singles of the year so far, “Reckless”. With so much more on the way coming in 2022, we got the chance to interview the entire band to pick their brains all about the debut, what a future sound is going to sound like, and all their influences that are shaping their music. As they’ve all separately been a part of other projects, Colorvision is essentially a supergroup of talented musicians that aren’t holding anything back in their creativity. Although “Reckless” comes off as an incredibly approachable track for all to enjoy, it’s certainly going to be a journey hearing their unreleased tracks as they see the light of day throughout the year. By the sound of it, they don’t plan to keep themselves throttled in terms of genre or style, rather finding what works best with them for the actual music they enjoy in everyday life.
Now while “Reckless” is a certifiable hit in every sense of the word, it’s got that replayability factor that makes you want to listen over and over. We don’t mean to overhype or set the bar too high, but for our personal tastes, it’s been in constant rotation since the day it got sent to us. Our initial reaction was this is a band we’ve got to speak with as we instantly resonated so much with the sound. The vocals are absolutely at the forefront and Deyo does a killer job at showing off his range, but each member of Colorvision is paramount to deepening the complex rhythms and atmospheres they’ve created. A recommendation from us would be to listen with a nice pair of headphones, as to not miss out on the subtleties that shine through on the top tier production.
