Washed Out Bring Their Good Vibes to SF's Outside Lands
When we think of ideal festival vibes, one of the first artists is always Washed Out, and wow did he deliver! We got the chance to sit on the hill at the Sutro stage at this year’s Outside Lands festival to truly take in the sights and sounds of this now legendary performer’s music. Please check out our full review of the set below.
Coming in right on time at around 5:30PM on a crisp and sunny Friday in Golden Gate Park was Washed Out and his perfect stylistic music to truly take us to a higher plane of being. Even though it was released in 2020, his record Purple Noon is still extremely fresh in our minds, and hadn’t yet had the chance to witness it in person. Featuring his signature booming bass, lofi vocals, and endless chill vibes, there was no better place to be at the festival than witnessing it all go down on Sutro.
Playing just a little less than an hour, it was such a nice break from the day from standing. In our minds, the best stage in all of Outside Lands has to be Sutro purely based on the fact that you can be up close and personal yet in full relaxation mode lying down letting the ethereal vibes of the music flow right through you. Honestly, that’s probably the best selling point to Washed Out’s music as a whole is you don’t necessarily need to know the words, rather just sit there and experience it as you feel it flow through your soul. There’s always such a genuine passion of the other times we’ve seen him and the band, but this was time was something special and different.
Of course it wouldn’t be his set if he didn’t play the classic “Feel It All Around”, but truly we were just so happy to hear the other songs that we had anticipated leading up to this show. We happily could have laid there for another hour just taking it all in as the sun slowly began to set. Now if you’re somehow unfamiliar with Washed Out’s music, well we’ve included all the links you need below to get into it!
