Mac Demarco Gives The Crowd Joy at Outside Lands 2022

What is there to say about Mac Demarco that hasn’t been said already? He consistently puts on the best and most chill festival set and last weekend at Outside Lands was no difference in the slightest. Please check out our full review of the concert below.

While it’s been a few years since we’ve gotten new music from Mac Demarco, that hasn’t stopped him from busting out the classics at some of our favorite festivals of the last 5 or so years. In fact, the last time we were at Outside Lands was in 2015 in which he played and brought the house down. It’s so interesting to hear his music evolve, but the now classics of 2, This Old Dog, and Salad Days now have that nostalgic feeling. Not to mention, his songs are so well known that it was legitimately an hour long singalong with 20,000 of your best friends on the Lands End stage.

Seeing as though he’s been cranking out memorable albums for 10+ years now, there’s plenty of good stuff to pull from, however we think Mac is fully conscious of what the crowd really wants to hear. If you’ve seen him over the years, you pretty much know you’re in for a good hearted time and plenty of witty banter from the jokester himself. He seems to be everywhere nowadays collaborating with up and comers on his own label, Mac’s Record Label, and it’s nice to see him pass off his immense knowledge to many.

Though it was the hottest part of the day, Mac brought his cool vibes to the mix and made us all forget about how hot it was. We melted into his music that certainly borders on psychedelic, but honestly it’s that ideal type of indie rock that’s best listened to while lying down on the grass, watching from afar, or just generally hanging with a good group of friends singing to each other’s faces. If Mac Demarco is playing at a festival, there’s no doubt in our minds that we’ll be there, it always delivers in the most wholesome and eclectic way. For now though, we’re sure Mac is getting out on the road soon enough, so make sure to follow him along wherever he may be!
