La Onda Festival 2024 Brings Fuerza Regida, YNG LVCAS, Farruko, & More to Napa Valley
On the heels of the inaugural La Onda Festival, we got the wonderful opportunity to see a range of artists play throughout Napa Valley this year! Do yourselves a huge favor and enjoy a breakdown on a little bit of everyone we saw play below.
YNG LVCAS
YNG LVCAS kicked off Day 1 at La Onda Fest by making an announcement to the audience saying that it was time for reggaeton to came back to Mexico. In a genre that has been dominated by Colombian and Puerto Rican artists, YNG LVCAS proudly represented Mexico on stage. The crowd erupted as Yng Lvcas performed his chart topping hit, “La Bebe”, which features fellow Mexican artist Peso Pluma on the remix of the song. With two back up dancers to support him on stage, Yng Lvcas brought the needed energy to get festival goers excited for a night filled with incredible music. His early set was a small tease of the incredible performances to continue throughout the night. Yng Lvcas delivered an amazing performance leaving an impression for those who knew of him or will now know his name.
Eden Muñoz
Eden Muñoz displayed some of the diversity in different types of Spanish music at La Onda Fest by making sure Corridos were seen. Supported with an incredible supporting band behind him featuring a tuba player, guitar players, & trumpet players, Muñoz delivered an electric performance that captivated audiences. Eden Muñoz even showed off a bit of his accordion skills leaving the audience in awe of his talent. Eden Muñoz brought exactly what was needed for an early set at the Verizon Stage here at La Onda. His charismatic stage presence drew in both longterm fans and newcomers alike which created an environment of connection between music. Muñoz's ability to engage with the crowd look so effortless while proudly representing Mexico solidified himself as a beloved figure in the Corrido scene.
Danna Paola
Despite a minor issue with technical difficulties causing a slight delay to Danna Paola’s set. The anticipation was surging throughout the crowd, with them even chanting her name loudly. Despite the setbacks when the time came for Danna Paola to take stage, there was an absolute roar of excitement and joy. Danna Paola took the spotlight with a mesmerizing performance aided by an incredible stage setup of platforms and tons of backup dancers which added to the spectacle. Danna Paola also let audiences know it was the first day of Pride Month and gave a heartfelt speech about the importance of embracing love no matter what form that takes. The combination of incredible choreography and vocals were some of the best seen at La Onda. With her captivating presence, Danna Paola left her mark on the main stage as a standout performer here at La Onda.
Farruko
Puerto Rican Reggaetón star, Farruko had the crowd going crazy treating fans to plenty of chart-topping hits. He performed songs such as “Pepas”, “Diles”, & “Calma (Remix) having the entire crowd dancing and singing along to every track. To make his performance that more special, Farruko incorporated pyrotechnics throughout his set which synced perfectly to the rhythm of his music. Expressing gratitude Farruko acknowledged how incredible it was to have this many Latinos together in one place. Encouraging audiences to give themselves a round of applause for the Latino community and celebrating this beautiful culture. As the sun set past the horizon, Farruko performance morphed into the perfect soundtrack for an unforgettable night at La Onda. Farruko’s energy and ability to engage with the crowd made his performance that much more intimate. His entire set was like one huge lively beach party, the perfect way to kick off the summer. Farruko’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, leaving audiences with incredible memories to have here at La Onda.
Junior H
Junior H closed out the night on Day 1 at La Onda with a stunning performance, that drew a massive crowd, with thousands gathered around the main stage. The anticipation could be felt throughout the entire day, with fans camped at the barricades for hours in anticipation for his set. The energy from the crowd could be felt before the Sad Boy himself took the stage. Junior H delivered an entertaining performance, showcasing why he has earned accolades and amassed billions of streams worldwide. Junior H performed some of biggest songs including “Y Lloro”, “Rockstar” & his hit collaboration with Peso Pluma & Gabito Ballesteros, “Lady Gaga”. With an hour and half long set, Junior H had everyone in their feelings to high energy tracks. Before leaving the stage and saying goodbye, Junior H brought some good news for his Bay Area fans. He announced tour dates for San Jose & Sacramento as a part of his newly announced 2024 tour, Sad Boyz Mania. It was the perfect way to close out an unforgettable night at La Onda Fest, leaving fans eager and hungry to anticipate from Junior H in the future.
Yahritza Y Su Esencia
Yahritza Y Su Esencia kicked off Day 2 at La Onda with a captivating early set in the afternoon. Yahritza Y Su Esencia is composed of three siblings who all have a passion for making urban sierreño music. The chemistry could be seen amongst each other and you can clearly tell they were soaking up every single moment performing in front of such a big crowd. They had fans singing along to songs such as “Soy El Unico”, “Fragil”, & “Esta Noche”. Yahritza Y Su Esencia were welcomed with a warm reception, promising a bright future for such a young talented group of siblings in the music scene. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Yahritza Y Su Esencia grace the stage again later in the evening as they continue to grow in popularity.
Gabito Ballesteros
Gabito Ballesteros has been making waves in the current Mexican corrido scene collaborating with some of the genres heavyweights in Peso Pluma, Junior H, Natanael Cano, Fuerza Regida & many more. With the recent release of his album, The GB last month in May, anticipation ran high among fans to hear some of these new songs live. Gabito Ballesteros brought the high energy needed on a hot summer afternoon. From running to one side of the stage to the other, it was evident that Gabito Ballesteros was enjoying every bit of performing in front of such a large crowd. The crowd reciprocated the energy, creating a perfect balance of warm energy throughout the festival.While Gabito Ballesteros might not be getting as much attention as his frequent collaborators, his passion for music and dedication for the craft is undeniable. It’s only a matter of time for Gabito Ballesteros to become a household name in the corrdio scene.
Fuerza Regida
Fuerza Regida closed out Day 2 at La Onda bringing in such a large crowd. According to the festival’s statistics, 10,000 more fans came to watch Fuerza Regida over rockero icons Mana, who were performing at the same time at the other main stage. Perhaps a passing of the torch between the older generation to the new generation. Fuerza Regida had an incredible catalog of music to go through for an hour and a half set. Fuerza Regida were electric performing some of the biggest songs in the Latin music genre such as their collaboration with Marshmello “Harley Quinn”, the chart topping single “Bebe Dame” featuring Grupo Frontera, along with crowd favorites “Tu Name”, and “Excesos”. Fuerza Regida frontman, Jesus Ortiz Paz even ran into the crowd singing along with fans, showing his appreciation and love for his supporters. Fuerza Regida even brought out a couple special guests Chino Pacas, Jonatan Caro, & Tiagz making their set just one huge party that everyone was invited to. Fuerza Regida also let fans know that after this performance they would now embark on their Pero No Te Enamores Tour. Fuerza Regida ensured the inaugural debut of La Onda in Napa Valley was an absolute success and one for the history books.
