Cory Henry Kicks Off Outside Lands With Funk-Filled Set
Kicking off the entirety of Outside Lands Festival 2022 was none other than Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles who put us in the best mood for the entirety of the weekend! We’re not going to say we peaked with their performance, but wow, the band certainly got close at such an early spot in the day. Please read on for our full set review below.
What started off as a relatively chill set at around 12PM on Friday afternoon, ultimately ended up being one of the most euphoric and upbeat experiences we’ve had at a festival! Honestly, for those who were in attendance, they know what’s up, but considering this was our first experience with Cory Henry in the flesh, we were dumbfounded as to how good it was. Playing songs across their discography that included hits from Operation Funk, Something To Say, and more, we got our Cory Henry fill quite quickly.
To be perfectly honest, we kind of had to run to get to his set at Lands End in order to catch the beginning, but it was all worth it once the first notes hit. We’ve been fans of his for quite some time and so getting to see it all go down at one of our favorite festivals in the world was a treat almost beyond words. The only unfortunate thing of it all is that when a band goes on so early in the day, you don’t really capture the audience size that they deserve. We’re not going to estimate the attendance, but had they been on at around 4-5PM, the entirety of San Francisco would’ve erupted in sheer joy. Our sincere hope for the future though is that when they return, they’ll be treated to the crowd they rightfully deserve.
No matter how difficult it might be to reenact what we witnessed in actual words, a parting sentiment that we’ll leave all the readers with is that exploring Cory Henry’s discography is an absolute must! We’ve included all the important links below to listen. Don’t miss out!
