Spaceface & Reptaliens Create Magic at Portland's Mississippi Studios

Perfectly complementing each other for a night full of complex music, Spaceface and Reptaliens rolled into Portland, Oregon’s Mississippi Studios for an incredibly memorable night. Fresh off their newest records Anemoia and Multiverse, it didn’t take long for the crowd to become quickly captivated by their fully inclusive sets. We were there witnessing it first hand and we’ve even got a full photo gallery below if you missed out on the wild night.

If you happen to be unfamiliar with the music of Spaceface, they’re a Memphis-based psychedelic pop band who have been making waves over the years with their always innovative music. With Anemoia’s album release just happening on January 28th, 2022, we’ve been dying over the last month to get to be able to see some of our favorite new songs played in a live setting. To no surprise in the slightest, they somehow translated even better this past weekend, and may have just solidified their latest as our favorite record of theirs.

Getting the crowd involved with mid-set antics was a bit of a surprise, but it only further increased the palpable energy and excitement flowing throughout the room. As this is a co-headlining tour between Spaceface and Reptaliens, the former was the opener in this scenario, but it fully primed the audience for a wonderful night as a whole. They ripped through some of their biggest singles like “Happens All The Time”, “Panoramic View”, and one of our personal favorites, “Sun Kids”. For those who happened to grab a ticket on a whim, it honestly felt like lifelong fans of the band were created instantly.

If you’ve never attended the show of a psychedelic rock band, this felt like the perfect entry point for the uninitiated. It was the perfect amount of “weird” in certain sections, but of course the music fully filled in the gaps. Basically what we’re trying to say is that if you haven’t let the music of Spaceface or Reptaliens enter your life, now would be the ideal time to do so!

We’ve included the most important links below in order to get listening, follow along, and to stay tuned for everything else they’ve got on the way in 2022. Currently they’re still on tour, so we suggest you grab a ticket if they’re headed anywhere near you!
