J. Rocc Unveils "A Wonderful Letter" at LA's Gold Line

J. Rocc, for all of the uninitiated, is the founder of the multiple DMC winning turntablist collective, The Beat Junkies and part of the Stones Throw Records’ Mount Rushmore. This also includes Peanut Butter Wolf, J Dilla and Madlib (if you’re curious please, please, please watch the documentary Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton).

With that being said though, J. Rocc is the crimininaly undersung member of this group of close collaborators but with the release of his new beautiful transducing head bobbing ode to Los Angeles, A Wonderful Letter, this will be his time to really get to shine. He premiered his new tracks Wednesday night at the Stones Throw owned Goldline Bar, a vinyl bar made for audiophiles. J. Rocc was behind the decks for three hours with a rotating cast of friends and fellow artists walking through to congratulate the man on his new work while they watched in awe as a master did his craft, making the small room feel like it was moving and shaking like an earthquake.

Now if for some reason you’re unfamiliar with his expansive catalog, of course we highly recommend you dig into it in full. After listening to A Wonderful Letter over and over at this point, it’s certainly a nice addition to what he’s done in the past, but begs the question if it will have implications to his further work. No doubt, it’s got that signature sound and feel to it, but we’re looking forward to making more comparisons with it as we become more familiar. In the meantime while we patiently await more music, do yourselves all a favor and check out the important links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for everything else on the way.
