Braxe + Falcon Make History in Los Angeles at El Rey Theatre

Making history at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles last night, French house pioneers Braxe + Falcon made an incredibly rare appearance that had attendees in an absolute frenzy. Thankfully, we were there to witness it all go down front and center, so please read on for our recap of the night and a full photo gallery below.

In case you may be out of the loop, Braxe + Falcon are made up of Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon who are legitimately pioneers of their genre. Having had the opportunity to produce and co-write with Daft Punk on their coveted record Random Access Memories, as well as being a part of Stardust with Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, seeing them live and in person instantly felt special. As soon as we walked through the doors of the El Rey, the energy shifted, and the crowd was roaring as they patiently waited for the duo to take the stage.

Met with a rowdy applause and an already hyped up crowd, Braxe + Falcon hit the decks for a near two and a half hour set of house goodness. Throwing in many gems from their expanded catalog, most of which you won’t find on streaming services, it didn’t matter because the crowd continued to respond well to everything. Accompanied by tasteful lasers and a slightly minimalistic light show, the focus wasn’t about the extracurriculars, rather the duo doing their thing in a live setting. Ripping through their latest EP, Step by Step, and even including an extended version of their collaboration single with Animal Collective’s Panda Bear, there wasn’t a dull moment or even a moment in silence during the night.

Taking breaks on the decks, playing with beach balls, and a ton of crowd interaction, it’s one of the most polite yet respected crowds we’ve experienced in Los Angeles in a while too. Those at the front made sure to give the artists their space, meanwhile getting vinyl signed at the same time. Even watching it go down from a distance, the sheer gratitude and appreciative nature of Braxe + Falcon became part of the show. Everyone responded well when some actual Daft Punk tracks and remixes were played, but now that the duo are out and about touring, we sincerely hope to hear more coming as soon as possible.

If they happen to be hitting a city near you, it’s 100% an unmissable show. Please check out the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay up to date with all major news. Enjoy!
