Zitro excels once again on 6th full length LP, "Fan Fiction"
Gracing the world with yet another wonderful record titled Fan Fiction, we’re thrilled with Zitro’s latest musical output. Please read on for our full review of the album, in addition to a background on this talented artist.
From the mind of Justin Ortiz comes his artistic alter ego, Zitro. As a prominent source in the New York music scene for over a decade now, he’s mastering the art of singing, songwriting, and always striving to up his production. Bringing together futuristic elements of R&B, Pop, and Soul, his 6th full length LP called Fan Fiction is a wonderful amalgamation of everything he’s created thus far. Our opinion of the album is quite high and we can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a spin.
Influenced by personal life experiences and expounding on those individual moments, he draws inspiration from some of his favorite artists like Prince, Seal, and so many more. One thing you’ll find is that while it’s reminiscent of some of music’s finest, he’s gone out of his way to consistently create a signature sound that definitively lets you know that this is a Zitro piece. Coming in at 10 total tracks, spanning right around 40 minutes in length, Zitro runs the gambit of sound and style all the while keeping the tempo high for all to dance along and enjoy.
While we certainly had our individual favorite tracks such as “Are You impressed Yet?”, “Act of Defiance”, and “Mature Response”, our sincere recommendation is for everyone to give this a focused listen from start to finish. There’s so many solitary moments that produce euphoric highs on Fan Fiction, it actually became difficult to count. From his unique vocal deliveries throughout, the inclusion of pulsating synthesizers, and twists and turns that we’ll leave as a surprise, the album is about as cohesive as they come. We were somewhat familiar with his discography beforehand, but now we’ve got all the reason in the world to do a serious deep dive on the rest of his catalog. Surely, there’s got to be plenty of gems just waiting to be discovered and shared.
