ZD & The List preview EP "Keep It A Secret" with single, "Empty Eyes"
With his debut EP titled Keep It A Secret on the way in just a few weeks, ZD & The List are slowly trickling out singles ahead of the big day. Keep reading for an in-depth look at the music, as well as a background on the band.
Led at the helm by Zachary Daniels, a band leader from Eastern Iowa, and also the creator of ZD & The List, he’s been hard at work in the studio putting the finishing touches on Keep It A Secret. Now while the only single that can be streamed thus far is “Empty Eyes”, which is astounding by the way, there’s much more to come in the impending weeks, and we implore all the readers to stick around and hear our thoughts ahead of the release.
Somewhere between “Alternative Rock with a darker 90s Pop-Rock edge”, we can still confidently claim that the sound of ZD & The List has managed to further infuse a dose of modern rock and a signature essence of its own. Zachary comes out in front with his commanding and effortlessly powerful vocals to truly set the tone, but the riveting instrumentals that back him up are obviously worth mentioning as well. They certainly allude to those 90’s influences, but with the addition of subtle horns, booming basslines, and emphatic drum fills, all of the musicians come together for a whopping experience of well rounded tunes.
At the moment, we can only comment on “Empty Eyes” as it has been tiding us over until the full EP, but it’s certainly built up enough hype in our minds for repeated listens. Not only is it lyrically impressive covering deep themes of which we recommend connecting the dots on, but everyone hits their stride as well. There’s a reason that Zachary chose this as the lead single, mainly because we think it has that all encompassing capability about it. Basically what that means is whether you’re a tried and true “rock” fan or just dabbling into the genre, there’s enough qualities about it to invite the uninitiated listener and give them something familiar. Needless to say, it’s 100% a song and a band we’re urging all to explore more.
For now while we patiently wait for Keep It A Secret, go ahead and pre-save and follow the band on their social media below.
