Your Best Nightmare shares multidimensional new single, "Really Cute"
Witty, immensely catchy, and filled with all the edge, we’re loving everything about the newest single "Really Cute" from Your Best Nightmare. Keep reading as we take a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
From the genius musical mind of Erin Porter comes her project called Your Best Nightmare in which she’s effortlessly infusing a ton of dynamic sounds and styles for something uniquely new. Ahead of her debut EP that’s due out later in 2023, this first teaser song is called "Really Cute" and instantly hooked us with its vivid and imagery-filled lyricism, all the while brightening things up with a ukulele and Erin’s unbelievably expressive vocals. Needless to say, we’re urging everyone out there to give this a spin.
On the background of it all, it seems as though a majority of her music comes directly from personal life experiences growing up in New Jersey and beyond. Having not been familiar with her work prior to this listen, we really didn’t know what to expect, but truly within the song’s first minute we were hooked. There’s something about the euphoric highs of a pop single that are quickly juxtaposed with dark and rich lyrics that just feels right. It challenges the listener on all different fronts, the group that listens to music for the way the instrumentals make them feel, and the lyric lovers who pick it all apart. Depending on who you are, you can definitely explore different avenues on how "Really Cute" strikes you. The versatility is endless and we assume everything else that’s going to be shared in the near future will be in the same vein.
Another underrated highlight has to be her delivery and vocal cadence as it bursts with sincerity and freshness. All the pent up years of living life are finally getting penned into amusing tales backed up with vibrance in the sonic nature of the sound. This is absolutely one of the more refreshing tracks we’ve heard in some time, which is exactly why we’re recommending it, and looking forward to that EP come its release.
