If this is your introduction to Young Onion, this is without a doubt the best place to start. On this collaboration single with Lilly Cat, the two have conjured up not only a highly replayable track, but something you’ll feel the urge to send to all of your friends. “Eyes Up Here! (The Calves Song)” immediately put a smile on our collective faces, it’s just a fun time.

For those not in the know, Young Onion is a hip hop artist who “specializes in creating music he thinks needs to exist”. Having been creating his own music on SoundCloud for the past five years, his aim and production process is to combine his sense of humor, melody, insight, and love into singles that are overwhelmingly of the “feel good” variety.

Currently representing the music scene in Spokane, Washington, he’s performed music most of his life and is absolutely looking forward to a return sometime post-pandemic. As someone with impressive calves like himself, this song is a celebration of that, because who wouldn’t want the world to know just how impressive they are, right?

Pairing up with Spokane-based producer Lilly Cat, they’ve remixed her disco instrumental “This New Hit”. Together though the song is an amalgamation of absolute greatness in which everyone needs to listen to as quickly as possible. It already feels like the song of our summer and summer hasn’t even begun yet. It’s actually difficult to imagine a song as instantly catchy or replayable as this one, which is why we think it’s an instant winner.

With songs like these, it’s sometimes best to leave the most up to imagination and just actively hype how good it is without giving too much away.
