Violet Temples gets personal on disco-inspired single, "Enemy"

Out officially on July 30th, 2021, we got the opportunity for a sneak preview of Violet Temples’ latest single, “Enemy”. Do yourselves a big favor and read along so we can let you know just how great it is!

Following up his debut EP Polaris released earlier this year, Violet Temples is paving his own way within the genre of pop. Adding bits of groovy flair, even bordering on disco sounds at times, “Enemy” was a powerful and focused listen for us that has paid off wonderfully. As great as the entirety of the EP was, the whole package of this track from the sounds to the lyrics has come together quite nicely.

Now we have to admit, this was our first introduction to the music of Violet Temples, however he’s managed to turn us into big fans on just this one single. After multiple listens of “Enemy” at this point, we’ve dug into the entirety of his discography and to no surprise, there are plenty of gems besides this track. A reminder that it doesn’t come out until July 30th, but we’ve linked the rest of his music below in order for you to properly prepare yourselves.

With that being said though, let us continue on in telling you just how wonderful it is. A top tier production, smooth vocals, and a whole lot of funk is exactly what you can expect on this beast of a song. At just a little under 4 minutes in total run time, Violet Temples challenges the listener to really look within themselves on the lyricism. There’s a still being told about himself, but at the same time, it’s quite relatable to experiences that we’ve all collectively gone through in our lives as well.

According to the artist, “I started to get embarrassed of myself. I wanted to break the cycle, and in order to do that, I had to look at myself and realize what I have been doing wrong. ‘Enemy’ is sort of a self-callout with loving intentions, in a sense, almost like an intervention”. It’s always a plus when an artist can get their message out in a beautiful way like this and it’s going to hit even harder when it’s actually out and in the world. We can’t wait for the music video as well, it’s sure to be a great visual representation of hardship.
