Urban Walrus chill out on uplifting yet laidback single, "All I Really Want"

Laidback, relaxing, yet pumping with optimism from start to finish, Urban Walrus have fully hit the mark on their latest single, “All I Really Want”. Read on for a closer look into the track, in addition to a background on this band.

Currently based all the way in Zurich, Switzerland, Urban Walrus are a relatively new indie rock-esque band formed by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Fabian Koerber. Putting their own collective spin on some of our favorite sounds and styles of the mid-2000’s, this project has still managed to create an eclectic, uplifting, and ultimately unique song titled “All I Really Want”. We love it and confidently think you will too, which is exactly why we’re urging everyone out there to listen.

Immediately as you click the play button, the listener is immersed into an incredibly hypnotic and bass enriched experience that flows effortlessly. Seriously, we initially gave this a listen in the morning time and gave us a smile with its good-natured feel and some coastal production effects that are hard not to enjoy. As mentioned, it’s quite introspective within the lyricism as it approaches everything in a “what if” pattern. There’s obviously a story happening, but it also goes on to question itself and looks towards the future in terms of goals, values, and so much more. Given its beachy and summery feeling, the answer is right in front of your face, giving you the opportunity as a listener to connect all the dots and figure it out for yourselves.

Now for some reason, Urban Walrus claims they are the most “boring band in the world”, however we vehemently object to that statement. While the music and sonic nature of it all is certainly slow going, it’s got that indie rock charm about it that doesn’t rely on anything flashy or gimmicky to bring attention. There’s a sincerity and originality about “All I Really Want” that while it pulls from other influences, undoubtedly sounds and feels like something new. The vocals are warm like a hug from your best friend, meanwhile the instrumentation is easy to follow along with and takes chances in the process. Truly, we can’t wait for you to check this out.
