Transmissions come out strong on debut, "Light in the Sky"

For our first introduction to the music of Transmissions, consider us incredibly impressed with their latest single, “Light in the Sky”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, in addition to a background on the band.

Filled to the brim with emotion from top to bottom, Transmissions’ latest single “Light in the Sky” is a slow burner that truly explodes in sound right up until the final moments. Made up of Joshua Joyner (Vocals/Guitar), Matthew Humpage (Vocals/Guitar), Tristan Apperley (Bass),  Dominic Sanderson (Lead Guitar), and Daniel Ratcliffe (Drums), these individuals are stopping at nothing to create sheer beauty. Without a doubt, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a focused listen.

On the background of the track, “Light in the Sky” is about a “man obsessed with leaving the world in hopes of being taken away by aliens, he sits in the woods and reflects on his lonely life, randomly switching between thoughts of loneliness and isolation to thoughts of extraterrestrials”. Now while of course the lyrics are a bit experimental, everything else included in this track is completely over the top in the best way possible. So much of what we enjoyed about this song was the slow build in instrumentation to the inevitable finish that felt like a suited ending for such a powerful song.

Now while this is the band’s debut single to the world, we can confidently claim right now that they’ve already found their niche going forward. Considering the vastness of their musical influences, we had no doubt that the song would flourish in its own right. Each band member brought their own complexity into the mix and it really shows after listening through multiple times. Go ahead and focus on one instrument each listen and you’ll totally understand what we’re talking about.

For us though, and we’ll continue to harp on it, we sincerely enjoyed every moment of “Light in the Sky” and we think you will too! Don’t waste another moment not listening to this song. We’ve made it easier than ever to do so by clicking the links below to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything else that we hope is on the way.
