The Ronains answer our hard hitting questions surrounding single, "Lunatics"

Fresh off the release of their latest single “Lunatics”, we got the extra special opportunity for an in-depth Q&A with each member of The Ronains! Of course we recommend you check out the song as soon as possible, but to learn a bit more about this emerging band, please read on to get to know them a bit better.

WWAM: Hello!, thank you all so much for taking the time to answer our questions. How's your days going so far?

The Ronains: Hello, Our days are going well thank you, working hard to earn money in these hard times to help live and also help with our musical journey! We have a lot on again in The Ronains and great to get back at it.

WWAM: To start, you've dove head first into this lyrically expressive song, "Lunatics". Would you mind explaining exactly what it's all about?

The Ronains: I was actually inspired to write this song after watching American horror story, the asylum episodes which was brilliant and also Shutter Island which saw the main character locked up against his will and the song is mainly about that.

Trying to escape somewhere you don’t belong but can’t while so called experts are telling you that you belong here. Writing the song also took me to the state of The U.K. and world leaders who have absolutely

destroyed the planet. The continuous lies of Boris Johnson so The Lunatics are Taking over the

asylum was born and made to be lunatics as we felt it was more of a punchy title.

WWAM: The production on the song is too good. Do you do all of your production, or do you have help putting together the final pieces?

The Ronains:  In the past we have worked with a great producer (Gordy Goudie of Simple Minds/Echo & the Bunnymen) and he really helped shape the sound of the first album. This time round with Lunatics we produced it ourselves with the help and guidance of Brendan Moon at Morsecode Studios where it was recorded. We spent a lot of time on arrangement & sound at my studio, practically changing the whole original demo of the song and transforming it into the track you hear today but at the end of the day all you need is Jim. the man doesn’t just look good, he has an unbelievable knowledge of production.

WWAM: You cover a lot of ground within the genres, if you had to put a label on the music you're making, what would you call it?

The Ronains: Ciaran; We feel in today’s market of genres we label ourselves as Alternative Rock. The Ronains music has a pop element to it with punk influences and rock licks so to save confusion we have now called ourselves an Alternative Rock Band!

WWAM: Are you going to be looking to experiment on future singles?

The Ronains: As a matter of fact we are. In the past we’ve had some rap on our songs and our drummer Linzi has brought a song to the table called Drama Queen which we are discussing experimenting on with some cool rap and possible collaboration with another band.

I’d love Jim to take off his top more and really show off his fantastic physique for our fans who just love his body as much aw we all do.

WWAM: How long have you been playing together as a band? What stemmed its creation?

The Ronains:The Ronains have been together as a band for 6 years and was formed by myself Jim Reid and Debi Ronain, both being massive music fans and both believing they had songs and style to compete on this massive music market. The band was finally complete when Linzi Ronain joined and Shaun Scott joined but Shaun who sadly passed away aged 28 after 3 years in the band would see us go on to either quit or try and replace our best friend in and out of music. We eventually found Ciaran who has been fantastic and really suited our sound, style and also become one of our best friends.

WWAM: What's the one thing you look forward to the most when embarking on starting a new song?

The Ronains: I look forward to getting stuck into the entire process - the mood of the song, how is it going to sound? What message do we want to convey? What parts can we bring in (or take out!) And then seeing who listens to it once the final track is complete and out there, it's exciting, nervy and exhilarating from start to finish! I also just love being in the same studio as Jim, the man is an absolute musical genius and looks phenomenal.

WWAM: Any plans for upcoming shows or a proper tour?

The Ronains: We are actually on a 15 date tour at the moment throughout Scotland and have played 8 dates including 3 great festivals with another 4 dates to play. Next year we will embark on a U.K. tour and see how that goes for us which is exciting.

WWAM: What does the next year of your lives look like?

The Ronains: We are always trying like every band to push forward and upwards always so next year we will be pushing harder and harder to reach our targets. We have a new management and will definitely have enough material to release our 2nd album which will be totally different to our debut one. Next year is so far looking good.

WWAM: For anyone discovering you from this interview, what's an opening message you'd like to say to them before they listen to your music?

The Ronains: We hope our lyrics jump out to you, Resonate and hit you hard, Making you feel an importance of pushing on in this world. Your life has value always.
