The Lowtones reach new heights on massive single, "Radio"

Soaring to all new highs on their first single release of the year, The Lowtones have crushed it again on their latest, “Radio”. Do yourselves a favor and read on a closer analysis of the track, as well as an update on the band.

It’s been nearly 8 months since our last review of The Lowtones’ EP Front Row Empty, so you can only imagine our legitimate thrill to know that the band has been working tirelessly on all new music. Taking cues from their last release, yet revolutionizing their sound and not making the same thing twice, their single “Radio” is a seriously stellar way to kick off 2023. It’s got those similar catchy rhythms, but with a maturity in nearly every facet of their sound and style. If this is your introduction to the band, you’ve discovered them at the perfect time.

From the opening notes on “Radio”, there’s this larger than life sound that the band has managed to create, bringing a real edge to their style that we’ve yet to experience. While the vocals are certainly a major factor in the anthemic feel this one has to offer, it should also be said that the production and mixing are 100% on point. The tones that were achieved on the guitars are massive, but for bass lovers like us, you immediately get sucked into the whirling riffs that are downright hypnotizing. It’s been a while since something like this on first listen has felt so natural, but honestly this is the sound of a band who’s coming into their own and creating a signature feel. On future tracks, which we hope are coming soon, there’s going to be definite triggers that let you know quickly, this is a song from The Lowtones.

Additionally, don’t think we forget about the step up in complexity from the drums too. We’re now over here with stiff necks from headbanging back and forth as they’ve really lit up the performance and brought a special feeling into the mix. Considering we’re right at the the top of the year, let’s hope this isn’t the last we see from the band in 2023.
