Putting together a wonderful preview of their upcoming album, we’re highly recommending everyone dive headfirst into The American Hotel System’s latest, “STORIES”. Please read on for our full review, as well as a background on the band.

Currently representing the Grand Rapids music scene, The American Hotel System are consistently aiming to create rock music that piques the listener’s interest in profound ways. With their sophomore album titled Interrobang slated for release sometime in early 2022, they’ve given old and new fans a taste of what’s to come on this mini-EP called “STORIES”. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed what we’ve heard and can’t wait for everyone to give it a spin as soon as possible.

Staying super consistent in their releases over the years since 2017, their sound has seamlessly shifted to what we’re considering to be more of ethereal rock. It could be the passion present in the vocals on these two songs, but it’s actually stopped to make us want to connect the dots in the lyricism. Accompanied by a stellar strings section that has ultimately brought a much needed texture to the style, all the songs in “STORIES” created their own little worlds of atmosphere and context. Plain and simple, this would act as the perfect introduction if you’ve yet to let their music into your lives.

You can only imagine the downtime they’ve had over the past couple of years, in addition to the difficulties of creating remotely. However it doesn’t seem to have impeded their creativity and overall freshness at all. If anything, it’s allowed for them to take a step back and consider what they really want, and we think the final package of it all came out fantastic. What you’re about to embark on is 8 minutes of greatness, but a reminder that there’s so much more to come. Interrobang feels like it’s setting itself to be the band’s most expansive and focused effort yet, and we’re beyond excited for the inevitable release date.
