teedream get loud on massive new EP, "Since Calgary"

Building up to huge highs throughout their newest EP Since Calgary, teedream have strung together a record of epic proportions. We’re loving this one! Read on for our full in-depth review of the album, as well as a background on the band.

What is being classified as an experimental indie and shoegaze project has fully delivered on that promise, plus more. teedream’s latest endeavor Since Calgary is a wall of sound that keeps on giving from song to song. Every single moment is enjoyable and we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that all fans of Rock music are going to have this one on repeat for years to come.

Fronted by Brayden Dreger, the artist has crafted together a cathartic and reflective experience that encapsulates so many of music’s “forgotten” genres. We say that because it’s not too often you hear a record like this that so effortlessly pulls from decades of sounds to create something astronomically original. At 6 total songs, each single forms its own little world and atmosphere that doesn’t go lightly on instrumentation or even lyricism. Everything was incredibly well rounded to the point that we sincerely didn’t want our listen to end.

As the record continues on, we felt as though things got louder and larger than life. We’re not saying that things began on a quiet note, basically the opposite, but you can almost feel the band get more comfortable as Since Calgary rolls on. It felt as though the record sort of peaked on “I Guess We Can Date”, but the last two songs aren’t slouches either. It really can’t be overstated just how phenomenally mixed it all is, but there were certainly moments that stood out from the others too.

Needless to say, we obviously enjoyed our listening experience and will undoubtedly be keeping our eyes peeled for another big 2022 release. We’re hoping it’s not too far out at this point, but in the meantime, we’ll be playing Since Calgary over and over. Do yourselves a big favor and check this record out as soon as you can.
