Released today on September 4th, 2020, Soul Glitch is back with a multi-sensory experience in the form of his new single, “Our Code”. Please read along with us as we deep dive into our thoughts on the track, as well as some background information into the artist as well.
Nicholas Jarrell Hasty, better known by the artist name Soul Glitch, is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and controllerist. Based in Northern California, the artist creates Epic Soultronica (a dynamic fusion of indietronica, electro-pop and synth-pop genres), seamlessly integrating infectious beats with messages of personal and social empowerment. Soul Glitch is about tuning in to our higher selves and finding meaningful purpose in the interdependency of humanity and all living things.”
What you’ll find on “Our Code” is a thrilling experience taking live Electro-Pop into unexplored territories with captivating and meaningful songs of the human condition we all share and how we grow both as individuals and as a collective. This message is shared through musicianship in synergy with acoustic instruments, synthesizers, and audio effects in a realtime re-mix of live performance. Drawing inspiration from the pulsating rhythms of electronic producer BT, the soulful vocals of SOHN, and the luscious melodies of Jamiroquai, Soul Glitch invites you to explore a better world with hearts open to the collective human experience. Songs are built on synth-heavy production, layered with melodic instrumentation, rich harmonies, and heartfelt vocals that will inspire you to be moved both within and without.
A word to the wise before you start listening, we highly recommend you do yourselves a favor and listen on the nicest pair of headphones or sound system you own, anything else wouldn’t be giving the song the due it deserves. Calling it a multi-sensory experience seriously isn’t an understatement, there’s so much going on instrumentally, tonally, and atmospherically that it really takes the song to its next level.
As impressive as the background is, we couldn’t get through this review without mentioning the stunning vocals featured here. As wonderful as this would sound as just an instrumental, which would be nice to hear, the vocals bring everything up a notch. Lyrically though, as mentioned above, they hit hard as they push the message of personal empowerment. As an artist, you can only imagine how much of that you’d need in order to strive to make great music.
We can’t express how much we enjoyed this track. Seriously, it checks all the boxes we’re looking for in a song. With that being said, it’s about time you took a listen!
