Sophie Egan shares her introspective new single, "20"

Seeing its release today on March 12th, 2021, Sophie Egan is back with another stunner of a single, “20”. Do yourselves a massive favor and read along with us for our full look at the track.

You guessed it, Sophie Egan is on her way to turning 20 years old, so what better way to commemorate that special time than creating a seriously beautiful single of the same name. Looking within and looking towards the future, Sophie has managed to capture an atmospheric sound with compelling lyrics that have allowed her to hopefully accept the near future.

What could definitely be considered as a lyrically focused song has also doubled as a true piece of sonic astonishment. At just a little over three minutes in track length, the artist has let us inside her head and inner most thoughts. With that special number “20” looming in the horizon, lyrically, the song goes in depth on Sophie’s worries and what the future might hold for her. Transitioning from the teen years to a more standard adulthood is undoubtedly scary, but the maturity that this song exudes has us confident that she’ll make it out just fine.

With this being her 5th officially released single so far, we did ourselves a service and listened to them all from back to front. Since 2019 on her debut “Start the Fire”, we can hear the evolution and changes within Sophie Egan’s sound. Quickly, we’ve come to love everything about it and it’s got us quite excited for what else is going to see the light of day.

Since the debut though, each subsequent single release has been such a positive step in the right directions. “20” may just be the most mature sounding and introspective track released, although “Imposter Syndrome” is certainly up there as well. However you want to look at it though, the artist is growing and learning in all her music and we find it to be so cool that you can audibly hear the changes happen.

On “20” though, it should go without saying that we’re quite impressed with what we’ve heard and are actively recommending and suggesting you all take a listen. For any teen or even post-20 adult who’s felt the same things, this is one of the more relatable songs you’ll hear today. Having been there ourselves, we can only send our best to Sophie and tell her to brace for the future, but also enjoy every moment of your early 20’s.

For now though, do yourselves that favor we mentioned and get listening! All things Sophie Egan can be found by clicking the links below. Enjoy!
