After a series of hype building singles, SOHLO has finally released the complete work of his newest EP, After Love. Please read on for a closer look at the record, in addition to a background on the artist.

As an independent artist who’s been quite prolific in his releases since starting out in 2015, SOHLO is a Toronto-based creative who’s delivered yet another beauty via his EP, After Love. Through an immersive production, expressive lyricism, and so many other elements, he’s gone above and beyond in creating a memorable atmosphere for this summer ready listen. The more we’ve listened, the more we’ve taken away from it, and we honestly can’t wait for everyone to dig in as soon as possible.

At a total 5 tracks, spanning right around 17 minutes in length, SOHLO doesn’t waste a solitary moment getting the listener primed for a listening experience. Though each song certainly holds its own pros that feel endless, ultimately it’s a lyric-forward listen that highlights the artist’s personal experiences through song. You’ll be able to feel the vulnerability and sincerity, that’s for sure, but also a real human touch that makes you feel closer to an artist that you’re probably unfamiliar with on a personal level. Although these experiences are from his life, it’s not difficult to find relatable moments and to feel that sense of camaraderie as well.

Now taking the message out for just a moment, it would be impossible to review this record without laser focusing on the insane usage of instrumentation and genre mixing. Surely it comes across as electronic-based at the forefront, but some of the solo sections presented here featured screaming guitar solos that took us by surprise. Specifically, the entirety of “Dirty Talk” was a shock to the senses and an energy bolt to our mood. The rest of the EP doesn’t disappoint, but SOHLO really has crafted something special here that makes you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster of original style. We promise, it’ll all make perfect sense once you hit the play button.
