Simesky+Fritch team up for genre-bending debut single, "Such Imperfection" - Interview
Taking their masterful minds and converging into one beautiful project, we got the opportunity to sit and speak with Simesky+Fritch all about their debut single, “Such Imperfection”. Please check out our full interview below.
Having reviewed their solo works separately, Simesky+Fritch is the joint project of Will Wilkinson and Alex Simesky. If you’re unfamiliar with their solo music, we’d highly recommend you check out Rats on the Run and United Simesky Institutes. For now though, let us please shift the focus to their lovely collaboration that’s just delivered a mending of their sounds titled “Such Imperfection”. We spoke at length covering topics like inspirations, what’s on the way, and so much more. Don’t miss it!
With Simesky living in Belgium and Fritch living in Wales, would you be shocked to know that they’ve never actually met? Well, they haven’t, but have still managed to create one of our favorite collaborations of the year. Coming in two parts as a radio edit and full length version, we’d recommend both obviously, but it’s the amalgamation of styles that really hits the nail on the head. Taking inspirations from Royksopp, The Cure, and a dash of 80’s synthwave, they’re exploring styles that we absolutely need a follow up to as soon as possible.
Now we got into it pretty in-depth during our discussion but in case you’ve missed it, ultimately the two shared responsibilities on the production, writing, and even the artwork. One of the best parts is that if you’re familiar with their solo works, little parts of them come through so perfectly for an ideal collaboration. There’s no lopsided feeling like one person is doing more than the other or one is lacking, rather a sweet symphony of synth-fueled madness. Getting to speak with both of them was the cherry on top of our listening experience, but as mentioned, we’re patiently going to be waiting for more coming hopefully soon. They’re working on their respective projects, so in the meantime we’ll be spinning this one loud and proud.
For now, please go ahead and check out those links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for more!
